back to 2004 Platt River State Park
This is the Lied Platt river kiosk. There is an explanation of the bridge funding
and maps of what it connects.
(See map 1)
(See map 2)
The Platte River was pretty shallow in some spots. Here birds converge. Due
to the high winds, there were birds everywhere in the sky having fun flying
without flapping.
From the bridge we saw a tower. We weren't sure what the tower was for or
if it was part of the state park. Later we found it was.
The Platte River. Although there were sand bars everywhere, the torrential
rain we received later in the evening may have made these disappear.
Platte shore.
Once we reached the other side of the bridge, we realized that we weren't
getting into the state park. We headed back over the bridge.
There is a community nearby called Middle Island.
A railroad still in existence.
